Myra Durkin, MSW, LICSW

I am a clinical social worker with over 25 years’ experience.

In my Somerville, MA (Davis Square) private practice, I work with adults, adolescents, couples, families and groups. I am trained in several therapeutic disciplines including psychodynamic and cognitive-behavior therapy, mindfulness and relaxation techniques, and systems theory, and I use them flexibly as needed. I am certified in clinical hypnosis and have been practicing it for over 15 years.

I have both a professional background and a deep interest in the performing arts and use specialized, state-of-the-art approaches to enhancing performance and overcoming performance anxiety, writer’s block and other such barriers for people in sports, in the arts, and in the workplace.

I founded the Mind/Body Department at the Longy School of Music, Cambridge, MA, where I teach these techniques to individuals and in groups. I am a consultant to universities and conservatories on performance enhancement.
